The Level 2 Creative and Media diploma started in September 2009 in Blackpool and the CLC is an integral member of the team that is planning and delivering this new innovative way of teaching and learning.

A number of students from across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre will start a highly experimental and challenging course. The course has been designed to allow students to develop an understanding of the creative industries and they will work with a number of creative and media enterprises and employers in the town including Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the CLC, Grand Theatre and the Blackpool Society for the Blind. These employers are throwing their doors open to the students, who will become members of their team working on live briefs!

In the first year of the diploma students will be looking at the modules Scene, Artefact and Festival. The scheme that has been written for the diploma has already been recognised by OCR, the exam board, as one of the best examples of Creative and Media Diploma planning in the country.

Over the next two years students will be looking at many different aspects of the Creative and Media industry not only in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre but across the country. They will be using skill in performance, visual art, media and production, as well as a wealth of thinking skills.

The diploma started in September 2009 and the 19 students are well into the demands of the course.
